Ankle & Foot

Morbus sever heel pain

Sever’s disease usually presents with increased tension in the calf muscles (triceps surae). The first tape relieves tension in the triceps surae, placing the stress on the soleus. At the same time, the tape under the foot promotes circulation in the region of the fascia plantaris. Thanks to the ligament technique used, the two smaller tapes create space under the heel bone (calcaneus), which results in pain relief and return of function.

Toe Walking

Toe walking can be caused by orthopaedic or neurological conditions. There are also children who toe walk without a detectable cause. The Achilles tendon can be short or there is increased tension in the triceps surae muscle. This CureTape treatment relieves the tension. In children the effect is observed quickly.

Sprained Ankle

A sprained ankle is a very common injury. Swelling follows an injury. These lymph strips can be applied immediately after an injury and promote quick drainage of fluid in the ankle. The grid formed by the tape has a mobilizing effect on the fascia. After a few days an orthopaedic tape can be applied (Medical Taping for foot stability) which promotes quicker recovery from the ankle injury and improves mobility.

Ankle instability

If the ankle is unstable, a tape can be placed to support and influence the proprioception of the ankle. In this way, this tape application can be put to good use preventively, for example during sport, in order to avoid an ankle sprain. This application with CureTape Sports has the form of a figure 8 and can be placed from the medial or the lateral side as support, depending on which form of instability is present. In many cases both are placed at the same time.

Arm & Hand

RSI and tennis elbow

A tennis elbow is the local inflammation, around the elbow, of the extensor muscles of the forearm and hand. There are many different ways to tape a tennis elbow. This variant uses CureTape Punch as the first tape, in order to stimulate more receptors in the connective tissue structures and thus calm the forearm extensor muscles. The second tape stimulates the supinator muscle.

Carpal tunnel syndrome

Carpal tunnel syndrome is one of the most common arm nerve compression syndromes. Asymmetric overuse of the wrist can lead to swelling which can trap the median nerve. Symptoms are numbness, tingling in the skin around the median nerve and wrist pain. The first tape aims to relieve the strain on the palmaris longus muscle. The second tape uses the ligament technique to create space in the wrist.

Golfer's elbow

In golfer’s elbow the insertion points of the flexor muscles of the arm are inflamed. The pain is localized, on the inside of the elbow. There are various possibilities for tape application. The first muscle tape with CureTape Punch has a calming effect on the forearm flexor muscles. The holes in the tape provide greater stimulation of receptors in the connective tissue. The second muscle tape stimulates the pronator muscle.

Thumb tendonitis or de Quervain's tenosynovitis

Thumb conditions such as tendinitis, overuse, pain and stiffness can be taped according to this tape combination with CureTape. The position of the thumb can also be corrected with this method. The first tape is applied over the abductor pollicis longus muscle. This muscle extends and abducts the thumb. The second tape influences the extensor pollicis muscle. This combination relieves complaints and promotes quicker recovery from the injury.

Back

Lower back pain

This CureTape® treatment is one of the taping options for low back pain. This ligament technique provides pain relief. It supports sacroiliac joint function and promotes circulation in the painful area, which reduces tension in the muscles.

Core stability

This tape combination is a good one to improve core stability during sport (for example when playing golf) and during exercise therapy as a reminder to maintain the right posture. The first tape is a muscle tape for the deep multifidus muscle, which stabilizes the spinal column. The second tape is applied along the transverse abdominus muscle.

Leg & Knee

Patellofemoral pain, Chondromalacia patellae or patellar tracking disorder

In patellofemoral conditions, the kneecap doesn’t glide or “track” properly in the thigh bone groove. When this happens, complaints arise, and the cartilage can be damaged as a result. This CureTape tape combination stimulates receptors around the patella. A second tape enhances functional improvement or pain relief.

Knee pain (Osgood-schlatter)

Osgood-Schlatter disease is most often seen in children who grow quickly and do a lot of sport. The pain is just under the knee. The application of CureTape according to this ligament technique creates space under the “star” as a result of which the pain disappears. This enables many children to continue to carry out their daily activities and to do sport.

Chondropathy patella

Chondropathy is a condition of the kneecap cartilage. Symptoms are pain and limitation of knee joint movement. This tape application with CureTape lifts the kneecap thus relieving the strain. Four tapes are applied according to the ligament technique, in order to better stabilize the knee. CureTape Sports is used in this video.

Knee complaints

Knee arthrosis, instability and sprained or torn knee ligaments On the lateral side one ligament tape is applied. On the medial side of the knee two ligament tapes are crossed over each other with the knee slightly bent, because anatomically the ligament fibres cross each other here. The tape combination provides a sense of stability and pain relief in patients with knee arthrosis and knee ligament injuries after a sprain (dislocation of the knee).

Pain and limitation of knee movement (chondropathy) The cartilage underneath the kneecap can be damaged by joint injuries or overuse. Pain and limitation of movement are the consequences. The first tape stimulates the fascia around the patella. For additional stability and functional improvement or pain relief, a second tape can be placed.

The knee in plica syndrome (synovial plica syndrome) or fluid in the knee A plica is a fold in the synovial capsule that can become inflamed. The pain is on the inside of the knee and is worse on bending and stretching. This tape application can also be used for fluid in the knee. Apply the tape with very little stretch since it must not influence freedom of movement.

Shin splints or medial tibial stress syndrome

Shin splints is an injury attributed to the overloading of the shin bone. It is a periosteal inflammation of the tibialis posterior and/or the soleus muscle(s). Circulation is insufficient, so that waste materials can accumulate in the tissue. On palpation there is a painful area. The complaints can worsen so that pain can be present continuously during sport. The application of the first tape depends on the individual situation and particularly whether the tibialis posterior or the soleus muscle must be influenced by the tape at the tibial edge. For both fascia tapes, the division of the two strips must be placed at the painful point.

Runner's knee or iliotibial friction syndrome

The iliotibial band is a band that extends from the pelvis over the hip and knee and inserts just below the knee. This band often causes lateral knee pain, especially in runners. The pain often increases after prolonged exertion. The twinges of pain are felt mainly when the foot touches the ground. Treatment with CureTape permits a quicker recovery from this injury. The first tape is applied over the tibialis muscle. Subsequently two ligament tapes are used to form a cross over the painful point on the side of the knee.

Neck & Shoulder

Shoulder impingement syndrome

In impingement syndrome the pain is greatest at an arm elevation of 90° and decreases once the arm is completely raised. This tape combination with CureTape provides direct pain relief which results in improved arm mobility. The first tape relieves tension in the subscapularis muscle. The subscapularis muscle rotates the upper arm (humerus) inwards (internal rotation). The second tape relieves tension in the descending part of the trapezius muscle. This muscle lifts the scapula along the rib cage (elevation). The last tape facilitates contraction of the ascending part of the trapezius muscle, which allows the shoulder to move downwards (depression).

Pectoralis minor

In respiratory problems the pectoralis minor muscle can be calmed through taping, in addition to applying tape on the back for hay fever and COPD. This muscle can also be taped for thoracic outlet syndrome (TOS) if the neurovascular bundle underneath the pectoralis minor muscle is trapped on lifting the arm.

Shoulder subluxation & m. deltoideus

This CureTape® tape combination is an option for tension headache or neck conditions. The first tape relieves tension in the descending part of the trapezius muscle. This tape promotes circulation in the neck region and has a relaxing effect. The second tape relieves tension in the levator scapulae muscle, which elevates the shoulder blade. This tape combination is usually applied on both sides.

Trapezius muscle

This CureTape® tape combination is an option for tension headache or neck conditions. The first tape relieves tension in the descending part of the trapezius muscle. This tape promotes circulation in the neck region and has a relaxing effect. The second tape relieves tension in the levator scapulae muscle, which elevates the shoulder blade. This tape combination is usually applied on both sides.

Cervical spine conditions or Whiplash

These lymph strips promote quick drainage of fluid and waste materials and better circulation in the affected area. These tape strips are indicated in whiplash or other neck and throat conditions. This treatment with CureTape® can also have a positive effect on tension headache.

Athrosis or cervical spine extension

The symptoms of cervical spine problems can have different causes and can be a cause of headaches and cervical vertebrae mobility problems. Patients with whiplash or arthrosis present these symptoms. It has been seen that this tape combination can be very successful in these cases. The first tape relieves tension in the cervical erector spinae muscles. The second tape, over the cervico-thoracic transition, relieves tension and stabilizes the affected area.

Broken collarbone or clavicle fracture

A broken collarbone is very painful and you cannot put a cast on it. Treatment with CureTape is a pleasant option for the patient. The first two ligament tapes are applied over the fracture. In addition it is also possible to apply a shoulder tape that has a calming effect on the deltoid muscle, thus supporting arm movement.

Other

Respiratory conditions

It is also worth applying this CureTape® treatment in children with respiratory problems and hay fever. The skin area that is taped has a segmental relationship to the lungs. You can often notice an improvement after just one treatment. Patients report that they have greater lung capacity and need less medicine. It is recommended to leave the area over the vertebrae free.

Urinary incontinence and overactive bladder

Stress incontinence is a consequence of physical exertion which results in undesired urine loss. The bladder muscles are weak. By using this star technique for application as low as possible over the sacrum, symptoms can decrease. The bladder zone is completely within this tape combination.

COPD, Asthma and Hay fever

Treatment with CureTape® consists of segmental support by applying tape on the back, over the region of the lungs. This tape is already quite effective. Depending on the cause of the complaints, the accessory respiratory muscle can be taped as well.
