The Dr. Vodder School Program for Lymph Drainage is the most widely known, researched and used method in the world. Their mission is to provide the highest quality education and to ensure the continuing competence of practitioners using Manual Lymph Drainage.
Their first Lymph Drainage concepts were presented in 1972 in New York and were the first to introduce a training program in the late ’70s. The North American School was founded by Robert Harris in 1994 and the administrative office is in Victoria, British Columbia. Classes have been taught since then in the USA, Canada and many other countries by certified teachers. They continue to evolve and develop their program to meet the needs of therapists seeking quality education. Their innovation has supported and developed the field of lymphedema therapy in North America and around the world.
The lymphatic kinesiology taping course is attended by therapists from many health care backgrounds, including physical and occupational therapists, nurses, registered or licensed massage therapists (with minimum entrance requirements), physicians and other related fields.
Utilizing the CureTape method from Holland, lymph taping is a part of the Medical Taping Concept (MTC) and is very well suited to stimulate lymphatic drainage. The body’s own recovery process is stimulated by applying an elastic tape material. The special tape has the same elasticity as the skin and by applying the tape in accordance with the anatomy of the lymphatic system as well as positioning the body in a way that the tape is stretched, lymphatic drainage is stimulated 24 hours a day. The tape lifts the skin a little through which the lumen of the lymph capillaries is opened. The pressure on the blood vessels is reduced. Moreover, the tape becomes a conductor of interstitial fluid.
The Vodder School has been a supporter of the National Lymphedema Network, Lymphovenous Association of Ontario and Lymphedema Associations of Quebec, Alberta and British Columbia.

Presenter profile: Froukje Potijk, PT
Froukje is a physiotherapist who completed her training in Groningen, Holland in 2008. She has worked as an edema therapist since 2009 and has completed specialist training with the Dr. Vodder Academy in Europe as well as working in the lymphedema clinic at Wittlinger Therapy Centre in Austria. She has taken specialist training in Medical Taping (Cure Taping). Froukje is also undertaking research into the development of an International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) for patients with lymphedema.
